Job Title: Senior Law Clerk

Under limited supervision, provide support to attorneys representing the State in state and federal courts. Responsibilities include:
Conducting legal research

Preparing briefs, pleadings, memoranda, or other legal documents.

Assisting with courtroom hearings and proceedings.

Reviewing and summarizing evidence and exhibits

Supporting junior law clerks by monitoring caseloads and offering guidance on tasks and assignments.

Hiring criteria

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria: 1) be a current law student graduating in December 2025, 2) be transferring from out of state and preparing for the swearing-in, or 3) be a recent graduate from an ABA-accredited law school awaiting SC Bar results.

Upon transferring into a permanent Assistant Attorney General position, the applicant must complete Rule 403 requirements.

Candidates involved in the State Grand Jury matters will be sworn to SGJ secrecy protocols and required to participate in the random drug testing program.
