What does it mean to be a Corporate Counsel II at GLS?
As a Corporate Counsel II, you will provide guidance on legal matters and advise on the legal implications of all consumer financial regulatory matters. You will be responsible for ensuring the company conducts its business in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
How will you drive value within the organization as a Corporate Counsel II?
Act as the legal resource and offer counsel onall consumer financial regulatory mattersimpacting the company
Document legal standards for use by business units and the Compliance department
Assist in the legal review of all contracts with third party vendors
Provide legal support to Compliance-related initiatives
Research unique legal issues impacting the organization and develop solutions to complex legal questions
Deliver counsel to various business units
Maintain electronic records and files that support work performed, results, and outcomes
Foster a collaborative culture that facilitates the achievement of business plan objectives by working closely with other associates and members of management
Perform additional assignments and special projects as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management
What should you already know to be successful as a Corporate Counsel II?
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate from an accredited Law School required
Active member in good standing of a state bar
Unimpeachable ethics and integrity, as well as demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent judgment
Experience with cost-effective management of outside legal resources
Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Team player that can adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment
Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications such as Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn new computer applications as required
Commitment to exemplifying the organizational core values and key competencies
Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and demonstrated ability to effectively set and manage multiple conflicting priorities

Employment Requirements:
This position is full-time
This is an exempt level position whereby business need will dictate the exact work schedule which should be expected to vary at times. Generally, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm
Remain in a stationary position up to 100% of the workday
Constantly operate a computer and other standard office equipment
Be able to perform activities such as: viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, bending, and kneeling
